Festival Travel Tips

Book Early

Accommodation fills up fast during Esala Perahera and Sinhala New Year. Book 3–6 months ahead.

Dress Modestly

Cover shoulders and knees when visiting temples and religious festivals. Remove shoes at entrances.

Poya Days Are Dry

Alcohol is not sold on Poya (full moon) days — 12 per year. Bars and nightclubs close.
